Packaging Comps

Comps are the company logos and designs on boxes, cups, cans, tubes, bottles, bags, and jars in which you package film, music, and software CDs and DVDs, soft drinks, toothpastes, beauty products, potato chips, peanut butter, and cook-and-serve items. When you use packaging comps for your product, the buyer can easily identify your product in the market and purchase it. A packaging comp enables you to add value to the product you sell and the brand you promote by bringing both together in the consumer's mind.

At Ambient Graphics, we have supplied packaging comps for over 20 years. We produce packaging comps for design firms, advertising agencies, and major corporations. Over the years, we have learned that the secret of producing a good comp is in its color quality. A comp has to be true to color; otherwise it just does not work.

We can create packaging comps for boxes in any color or combination of colors. We can also include textures, metallics, embossing, foils, pearlescents, and fluorescents.

We can paint new designs for tube and bottle comps on top of the existing design or use blanks as a base. We can also add tints to clear and frosted bottles and jars.

To produce can comps, we direct proof to shrink film. Then we shrink the film around the can, to match its contours. We can use an artwork in a flat digital file and convert it to cover a cone shape, which you can use as cups containing food and soft drinks.

We can create colorful labels for comps, and use our proofing process to create paper and poly bags, filling these with your products so the paper and poly bags are ready to be shelved. We can also add comps to props, models, and prototypes, of any shape or size.

We use Xeikon web presses to print on paper and synthetic media and use screen printing for PMS colors and metallics. Our comps have been used by Disney, Nokia, Mattel, and Warner Bros., and we have created props for movies, such asPlanet of the Apes,Air Force One, andStarship Troopers.
