Prior to the formation of the company with the same name, Letrasets became a standard requirement for graphic design students looking to create professional lettering. In recent years, Letrasets have been greatly replaced by printing technologies and vinyl cutouts. However, there are still great benefits to using Letraset technology to create packaging comps, labels, exhibit lettering and many other products. Letrasets are also known as color transfers, dry transfers, rubdowns, rub-ons and Chromatecs. They are also a very popular tool for scrapbooking. Color transfers (or Letrasets) are custom created by Ambient Graphics by printing on a special film that is then rubbed to transfer the graphic or lettering to the desired surface.
