What are Color Transfers? |

Color transfers are also know as dry transfers, chromatecs, INTs, rubdowns, letrasets or rub offs. They are typically used for logos and lettering because they produce a highly detailed image that can be applied to virtually any surface, looking as if they had been painted on, or directly printed on the product or package. For example, the numbers on the keys of a cell phone, or a company's logo on the side of a cosmetic of food bottle may be applied using color transfer technology. Companies prefer color transfers to stick-on labels because of their ability to conform to the shape of the product more easily. Prior to the invention of current printing technologies, including vinyl lettering, color transfers or letrasets were commonly used by graphic artists and advertisers to create detailed lettering. Currently, museums and businesses continue to use dry transfer technology to create professional exhibits and displays. They have also become an extremely popular tool for scrapbooking hobbyists creating personalized lettering that looks as if it is part of the scrapbook page, rather than "stuck on" like a sticker. Send us your digital file via E-mail or FTP (see our Service Guide ). Please include layout. Both Mac and PC files accepted. We also accept film negatives - right reading emulsion up. Same-day shipment (or local delivery) available if we receive your design & layouts by noon. Files received after 12 noon can be shipped next day. FedEx shipping and local delivery by messenger available. |
